My Baking Endeavors
Today I made chocolate croissants from scratch for the first time. It was quite the experience! It was much more difficult than I had anticipated. The entire process from start to finish took about three days. This is because the layers of butter have to stay cold while you roll out the new layers. At first I thought they might not work out, but I continued anyway. I am very glad that I did. I think it was well worth the work because all of my friends enjoyed them.
Every week I take baking requests from my co-workers. I make them on my days off and bring them in for everyone to try. Some have been hits, others not so much. I have made cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookies, pretzels, cheesecake brownies, buckeyes, banana bread and the list goes on. I love learning new techniques and trying new recipes. Baking is almost relaxing for me. It’s something simple, but I really look forward to it.
This is the croissant recipe I used!

Hi Carrie. Your croissants look delicious. I find baking to be somewhat of a science experiment. I am very envious of those who get to try what you make because I find food made fresh from scratch to be better than anything I could buy. I am wondering if you maybe could make a social media page about the treats you make. Not only could it be to show the final product, but you could show the process and what was a difficult or complex part in making the food. If you already have made a social media page, I hope it will the most successful in the fall and winter where it can be easier picking food to make that suits the season.
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie. I am glad you enjoy baking. I definitely would look at some of the recipes. I have to cook for myself and it was been an experience. I will admit I am not succeeding. Clearly I am not as good at cooking as you. These look awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very enjoyable baking story to read! Some of my favorite recipes are the most complicated ones. The extra work is almost always worth it. In college it can be difficult to pursue cooking hobbies becasue of what is available to us, but I'm very glad to see you have found a way to work it into your daily life. It is a calming hobby that has a nice tasty reward at the end. I'd love to see you someday make a book of your favorite recipes. Who knows, maybe you'll even begin to create your own recipes!
